Archery courses

TJA arranges basic- and advanced courses for archery during autumn and winter seasons according to available resources, typically 1-3 courses per season. The courses are arranged in Osmonkallio civil defence shelter at Ainonkatu 1.

Teaching in courses is given mainly in Finnish, as especially in shorter weekday events there is not enough time to give teaching in two languages. With weekend courses this is easier and in case you need teaching in English with a weekend course, please let us know about when doing the booking to the course so that we can be prepared for it.

Available courses

Basic course

Basic course (in Finnish, alkeiskurssi) has 6 two hours long training sessions, usually one per week. First 5 of the sessions are dedicated for learning correct shooting technique and for going through other essential topics for archery. The last session is used for a small competition between the participants of the course.

Material used in course can be downloaded before hand from this link. It provides an abstract for the elementary archery information. More information can be found easily from Internet, e.g. SJAL provides Ensinuolet-site for beginners. In addition SJAL provides a good elementary archery guide (in Finnish) which is recommended reading.

After course the participants are able to train independently with club's equipment. Club member will also provide help and guidance in all topics related to archery, so don't be afraid to ask it from them!

If necessary, there will be several basic courses during the seasons. Price of the course is 170€.

Next basic course starts 13th of March 2024, assuming that there are enough participants for the course.

Advanced course

Advanced course (in Finnish , jatkokurssi) is a logical continuation for basic course and concentrates to different sectors of the shooting technique. Course also provides information about archery equipment in order to enable participants to buy and tune their own equipment. In addition, the course also aims to help participants to taring independently and to fix the most significant issues in their shooting techniques.

Advance course has 12 two hours long training sessions and its price is 240€.

Equipment and clothing

Club will provide all archery equipment required in course. Participants have to only have comfortable flat shoes (trainers are no usually flat bottomed) and also preferably a skintight shirt.

The booking is done by pressing the correct course from the above list.

In case the course becomes fully booked, it has 3 extra places on waiting list and further reservations are added automatically into it. If a place is freed later on, 1st one on the waiting list will get an email notification to which he/she has to reply and confirm the participation. If no response is got during 24 hours, the place is given for the next one in the waiting list.

Note! Due limitations set by FloMembers service, you can reserve only one place at the time. If you want to reserve more places to same event, press "Register more persons" to get transferred back to reservation form. When doing the next reservation, you can still use the same email address but you have to change either your given or surname sligthly (e.g. using name of each participant or by adding a running number after either of them) as FloMembers allows only one booking to same event by using the same name. You have to repeat this for each place you want to reserve to same event.

Payments

Courses are paid only after it has been confirmed that there are enough participants to the course. You will then receive an invoice via email.
